Patients are asking AI to find a physio
Someone looking for a physiotherapist used to search Google, check a map and ask their GP, gym or friends. More and more now also ask an AI assistant: “Can you recommend a physio in Nottingham?” or “Is there a sports physiotherapist near West Bridgford with evening appointments?”
The assistant replies with a short list of named clinics. If yours isn’t on it, that patient may never reach your website or booking page. You won’t see it happen: there’s no ranking report, no lost click to count.
What assistants say is built largely from public information about your clinic: your Google Business Profile, directory listings, your website and local sources. When that information is missing, out of date or contradictory, assistants have less to go on. Much of it you can correct.
What a free snapshot gives you
A one-page view, built from the questions patients actually ask in your area:
- Whether you’re named: how often, out of how many answered runs, on each engine.
- Who is named instead: the physiotherapy clinics assistants put forward for your area, and how often.
- Which sources are behind the answers: the listings, directories and pages assistants draw on.
- Priority gaps: which public listing gaps look most important (for example an inconsistent phone number across directories or a missing service on your Google Business Profile) — findings, not a step-by-step DIY brief.
That’s enough to decide whether anything is worth fixing before you spend a penny. If it is, the fix pack corrects the public listing information and we re-measure the same way, so you can see what changed. The snapshot is about visibility only: it doesn’t assess or compare the care any clinic provides. Request your free snapshot.
What we measure for physiotherapy clinics
We agree a short set of realistic questions with you, based on the services you offer and where your patients come from, for example:
- Can you recommend a physiotherapist in your town?
- Is there a sports physio near your area with evening or weekend appointments?
- Which physios in your town do home visits?
- Private physiotherapy in your town that accepts health insurance?
- HCPC-registered physiotherapist in your area?
Each question goes to ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot more than once. We record whether your clinic is named, cited as a source, or not mentioned, who is named instead, and which sources the answers drew on. Every count shows its denominator, and runs with no answer are listed separately. The full method is on our how we measure page, and the sample report shows the format using fictional businesses.
We measure whether you’re named, nothing more. We don’t assess, compare or comment on the quality of care any clinic provides.
What we look at, and what we fix
AI assistants build their answers from public information. For physiotherapy clinics, these are the places we check, and fix or hand you ready-to-paste corrections for. Everything here is factual listing data; none of it is clinical content.
Google Business Profile
The right primary category (such as Physiotherapist), every service you genuinely offer, current opening hours including holiday hours, accessibility details, and up-to-date photos of your clinic exterior, reception and team.
Consistent name, address, phone
The same practice name, address, phone number and booking link on your website, Google and every directory, so assistants aren’t piecing together conflicting facts.
UK directories patients use
Listings that exist, are claimed and match your website: Doctify, Top Doctors, WhatClinic, the NHS website where you provide NHS-funded services, and the other directories assistants cite for your area.
Service & area pages
A clear page for each service you offer (sports physiotherapy, musculoskeletal assessment, home visits, sports massage, whatever you genuinely offer) and the areas patients come from (a page for each town or district patients travel from, where that’s genuinely the case), in the words patients use. Any clinical description on those pages is written or approved by your registered clinician.
Structured data
Schema markup (such as MedicalClinic or Physiotherapy) stating your practice type, address, opening hours and services, matching what’s on the page.
AI crawler access
Checking robots.txt and any bot-blocking settings aren’t accidentally shutting out the crawlers assistants use, such as OAI-SearchBot, Googlebot and Bingbot. Whether to allow each one is your call; we explain the trade-offs.
We also check that registrations and memberships you genuinely hold (for example HCPC registration for your physiotherapists, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) membership where applicable, and insurer recognition you actually hold) are shown accurately on your website and listings, and that what assistants say about you is factually correct. We never invent registrations, memberships, reviews or credentials.
Review advice stays within Google’s rules and the CMA/DMCC Act 2024 fake-review rules: no incentivised reviews, no review gating, and no soliciting testimonials about clinical outcomes. Health advertising also has its own rules (the ASA/CAP Code on health claims, and HCPC standards and CSP guidance). Where listing wording might need checking against them, we flag it for you; we don’t give regulatory advice, and the final say on any clinical wording rests with your registered clinician.
How it works
- Free snapshot. A one-page view of how often you’re named, who is named instead, and the priority listing gaps behind those answers. No obligation.
- Fix pack (one-off). We correct the factual listing issues the snapshot found, fixed for you or handed over as ready-to-paste corrections, then re-measure using the same method.
- Monitoring (monthly). The next listing fixes to make each month, in priority order, plus the same questions on the same engines and a plain before/after sheet.

What we don’t promise
AI answers vary. Assistants don’t give the same answer every time, and results can change between runs, days and users. Every result we report applies only to the specific questions, engines and dates tested. Nobody can guarantee that ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or any other AI assistant will name, rank or recommend a business, and we don’t.
Online visibility only. Our work for clinics covers online visibility and factual listing data only: opening hours, address, contact details, services offered and registrations held. We make no assessment of clinical quality, and nothing on this page or in our reports says or implies that any practice, clinician or treatment is better, safer or more effective than another. We don’t write clinical content; any clinical wording comes from you and is approved by your registered clinician.
We also don’t credit our work for changes in your enquiries, bookings or revenue, and case studies will only ever appear with a client’s written permission and their before/after sheet. We never use patient data or patient testimonials.
Questions
Can you get my physiotherapy clinic recommended by ChatGPT?
No one can guarantee that. We measure how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot name your clinic today, fix the public listing information they draw on, and re-measure using the same method.
Which questions do you test for physiotherapy clinics?
Questions patients actually ask, agreed with you first: a general “physio in your town” question, local-area questions, practical questions such as home visits, evening appointments or accepting private health insurance, and questions about services you genuinely offer, such as sports physiotherapy.
Will you write about our treatments or make claims about results?
No. Our work is online visibility and factual listing data only: hours, address, contact details, services offered and registrations held. We make no assessment of clinical quality and make no claims about treatments, recovery or outcomes. Any clinical wording comes from you and is approved by your registered clinician.
Do you work with sole practitioners as well as multi-site clinics?
Yes. A sole practitioner, a multi-site clinic and a gym-based practice all show up differently in AI answers, so we tailor the question set and listing checks to how you actually work.
Do you need access to patient data?
No. We use only public information about your clinic and the answers the assistants give. We never ask for or use patients’ personal data.
